Dr. Mohan Lal Gupta is an eminent Indian writer and a sensitive architect of words, whose literary journey spans satire, drama, poetry, ghazals, novels, short Hindi stories, history, and cultural studies.

A regular columnist in leading Hindi dailies, Dr. Gupta has earned widespread recognition for his profound literary contributions. Renowned as a linguistic genius, he possesses an extraordinary sensitivity toward language and expression. A deft expressionist with a high emotional quotient, he has authored more than seven dozen books, encompassing Indian history, satire, drama, poetry, ghazals, novels, short stories, and cultural research.

He has carved a distinct and dignified place in the fields of history, tourism, and journalism, and is widely admired for his unique ability to address complex dimensions of the human psyche in simple yet powerful words.

Dr. Gupta’s first short story collection, Shesh Yatra (1986), marked the beginning of a remarkable literary career. His dedication to literature earned him prestigious honors such as Navjyoti Katha Samman and Ankur Samman (1998). He was later awarded the Maharana Kumbha Samman (2009) and the Ghanshyam Das Saraf Award (2002).

Beginning with short stories, he later diversified into Hindi ghazals, plays, satires, and novels, achieving equal acclaim across genres.

His play Chitrakoot Ka Raahi won the State-Level First Prize by Jawahar Kala Kendra, Jaipur (2004). His play collection Sapno Ka Rajkumar also gained wide popularity.

Among his six novels, Sangharsh was shortlisted as the Best Hindi Novel (2002). His historical and cultural works, including Rajasthan Gyan Kosh, are considered authoritative references.

Dr. Gupta retired in 2016 as Deputy Director, Chief Minister’s Office, Rajasthan, and is presently devoted entirely to writing and research.
